Disappointment can send us walking in the wrong direction, away from community and the promises of God. Just as Cleopas and his companion were leaving Jerusalem after Jesus' crucifixion, confused and heartbroken, we too can find ourselves distancing from God when life doesn't turn out as we hoped. Yet the beautiful truth is this: in your disappointment, you don't lose Jesus - you just may not recognize him. He's right there beside you, even when you can't see him clearly.
